The Notice of Computation (DE 429D) shows your weekly and maximum benefit amounts based on the wages you earned in your base period. Your base period is four quarters that depend on the effective date of your claim. Only the wages reported by your employer(s) that are subject to State Disability Insurance (SDI) under the California Unemployment Insurance Code (CUIC) are included.
You must have received at least $300 in wages subject to SDI during the established base period to qualify for a claim for Disability Insurance (DI) or Paid Family Leave (PFL). For information about how your benefit amounts are established, basic eligibility for benefits, how and when benefits are paid, and your responsibilities, refer to the instruction pages of your claim or visit State Disability Insurance (SDI) (edd.ca.gov/disability).
Review Your Wage Information
If there is an error in the information shown on the DE 429D, you must notify the Employment Development Department (EDD) within 30 days from the mail date of this notice. You may be required to repay benefit payments if they are based on wages you did not earn. Contact the EDD immediately if you believe the earnings shown are incorrect, as this could impact your weekly benefit amount and/or maximum benefit amount.
You may be entitled to substitute wages paid in prior quarters if, during any of the quarters shown on the DE 429D, you were:
- Industrially disabled for 60 consecutive days or more.
- In the military service for 60 days or more.
- Involved in a trade dispute for 60 days or more.
If the above situations apply to you or if you had insufficient earnings during the base period due to long-term unemployment, contact the EDD within 30 days from the mailing date of this notice to discuss a possible base period wage substitution.
Your benefit payment information is also available over the phone by calling the numbers listed above. Visit DI Automated Phone Information System (edd.ca.gov/Disability/Disability_Insurance_(DI)_Automated_ Phone_Information_System.htm) for instructions on how to access your benefit payment information over the phone.
If you are assigned an EDD Client Number (ECN), it will be used for all future communication with the EDD. You must keep the ECN for your records.
You may view this notice and claim-related information using SDI Online. To register for an account, visit State Disability Insurance (SDI) (edd.ca.gov/disability). If you have questions regarding this notice, contact the EDD through Ask EDD (askedd.edd.ca.gov) or a number listed above.
For Voluntary Plan Claimants Only
If you have filed a DI or PFL claim with your employer under a voluntary plan, this notice has been sent to you to show the minimum rate your employer’s plan must pay you, if you are otherwise eligible. Questions about your benefit payments must be addressed to your employer or the plan administrator. If your employer or the plan administrator does not respond to your claim after 30 days, you may presume a denial of benefits and file an appeal through the EDD.
